Made in the Shade with Awnings

When it comes to protecting you from the sun, and saving money on utility bill, an awning is just the ticket.

The US Department of Energy says that awnings can lower the temperature gain in your house (due to sun) by almost 77% on windows facing west and east and almost 65% on those facing the south.

Not only does an awning protect you from the sun, but it also protects you from other natural elements, such as rain and snow. In certain configurations, awnings can also protect you from wind. As in many shade options, the amount of protection from the sun's harmful ultra violet rays is determined by the type of fabric.

There are basically two different types of awnings:

Retractable Awnings Retractable awnings are available when you needRetractable Awning - Motorized Pro - 14ft. it; otherwise, it remains retracted. Another advantage is minimal maintenance, because the awning is not constantly exposed to the elements.  They can be used to shade decks, patios, balconies, doors, windows and more.  Retractable awnings can be motorized or manually operated.

Stationary Awnings – sometimes called fixed awnings, permanent canopies or free standing awnings. The primary advantage of a fixed frame or stationary awnings is constant protection from the elements. In addition, fixed frame awnings can be fabricated into a multitude of shapes and sizes to create a custom outdoor space for your home. These can be used as weather protection on your deck, patio, balcony and other areas.

Awnings reduce heat, glare, and sun damage, helping you save on air conditioning costs. Extremely durable and easy to maintain, many are made from an acrylic canvas that is water, mildew, and fade resistant. Some even come equipped with a pulley kit for retractable convenience. Awnings should be about 4-9" wider than window or door.
